I Just Heard a Heart Break (And I'm So Afraid It's Mine)

I felt you slip from the covers of our big four poster bed I heard you dial the telephone, saw you shake your worried head I watched you dress in total darkness, you've never done that before Daylight seemed so far away as you gently closed the door I saw the light beneath the door as you tiptoed to the car I heard you leave so quietly, oh, you surely won't go far I stayed awake and watched the day break, then I waited through the day Oh, you'll be back, I know you will, you've never stayed away Or have I just heard a heart break?
