Lyrics
Damn, that's crazy
They say I'm crazy
They say I'm crazy
They say It's crazy
We say it's crazy
But no it's not crazy
I said no it's not crazy
Not crazzzzyyyyy
Naw naw naw
It's Divine
It's not crazy
It's divine
Never out of line
But time after time
We lose rhythm to find rhyme
Time to time
Dancing on dotted lines
But eye know how to read
Eye know left from write
Know coincidences are just lacking in sight
You see there is no need for the blind to lead me
When I have inner sight
And I know this path
And I know it well
And it chose me
And I walk it well
I'm not crazy
Too many times are we as people of color
Filtering our pain and suppressing our truth
And I get called "strong" a lot
What do people think life is like for "strong" people
I'm not omitted from anything any other human being deals with
So many fail to realize how much it takes to maintain a balance
To where not only I manage and navigate through my own trauma
But also the trauma of those I love
Everyday you can maintain that balance
But the moment you get overwhelmed and react to anything that triggers you
You are deemed crazy
I do not believe anyone is crazy
I feel like that word discourages people of color
And creates an insecurity about our truth
The world is insensitive to the truth of black people
The truth that as a black person you are taught that to just be black is never enough
The mentality of I cant just be another nigga
Or I cant be my father or my mother or my cousins or my neighbor
I must exceed my blackness to be black excellence and only black excellence
The idea that blackness is anything but excellent
Creates this pressure to perform at a standard none around us seem to attain
Yet is what society holds us to
Average is failure in our eyes
We become insensitive to our own emotions
Throwing all we feel aside to not let it interfere with our performance in society
The truth is that even the most artistic
Most successful
Most articulate of black individuals possess a degree of pain
That takes a great amount of effort to balance
We are not crazy
What's crazy is that nobody seems to have these conversations on a scale
To where we as black people do not feel isolated within our experience
And thats crazy
By individually choosing to walk in our truth
We become unified and united
And we can love freely without fear that those we love will betray or abandon us
Or cause us more trauma
The fear that our truth will push everyone away creates a lie
That soothes everyone but the person living the lie
It's important we get to the sources of our pain
So that we understand that we
Our truest selves - is already excellent and deserving of love and acceptance
And in no way must we filter our truth to appease others
You are not crazy
You are divine
You are not crazy
You are divine
You are not crazy
You are divine
They say I'm crazy
They say I'm crazy
They say IT's crazy
We say it's crazy
But no it's not crazy
I said no it's not crazy
Not crazzzzyyyyy
Naw naw naw
It's Divine
