I Had a Love

I had a love, and I thought it was good And it felt like it could be forever It was the face that I wanted to see every morning and night Maybe forever And throughout the doubt there was always hope And a faith that our love was bigger than all obstacles And throughout the doubt there was always hope And a faith that our love was stronger But we had different concepts of reality How we saw the world was shifting And drifting apart were we We had a love that was ancient and of a design that defied all the odds It had entered our lives without pretension or pride Simply letting us know it had found us But the "we" couldn't grow when the fear to let go Was disrupting the flow of our separate entities And as hard as we tried, we had to sever the ties of this bond So we could find freedom We had different concepts of reality How we saw the world was shifting And drifting apart were we I had a love, and I know it was good, And it will stay with me forever Sometimes in life you have to take a dive into hell To find heaven within you One day we'll meet on that mountain and see what it all was for And it was worth it One day we'll be that mountain and see All the joy we created from sorrow
