Albert King's stinging, singular sound made him one of the most influential electric blues guitarists ever—no small feat for a guy who played left-handed and upside down. King recorded sporadically during the '50s, but had to wait until the early '60s to have a hit record. Signing with Stax Records was a major step for King, and he would stay there for much of his career. His 1967 album Born Under a Bad Sign became a blues classic, influencing the likes of Joe Walsh, Mick Taylor, and especially Stevie Ray Vaughan, who was one of King's biggest fans and eventually collaborated with him.
