Formed in London in 1992, Bush quickly proved Seattle wasn't the only rainy city to sprout a grunge powerhouse. The band broke out with their debut, Sixteen Stone: a set of slick, infectious rock anthems that captured both the discontent ("Everything Zen") and sad romanticism ("Glycerine") of Generation X via thick, jagged riffs and Gavin Rossdale's pensive wails. The doomy, Steve Albini-produced Razorblade Suitcase solidified them as '90s alt-rock stars, and Bush remain as hard-hitting—if not a little more nostalgic—in the 21st century ("The Sound of Winter").
