Multitalented Hong Kong artist Nicholas Tse makes dramatic, slow-burning rock numbers centred around soaring choruses and guitar solos. He emerged as a musical presence in the mid-'90s, gaining attention for his airy voice and his emotional ballads about love. Tse has branched off in many directions since, making feedback-stained rockers featuring howled hooks. Yet the slower material always calls him back, including lush tunes incorporating orchestra swells, piano and electric guitar interludes that buttress his voice.
