Yusuke Kawai started creating music as a teenager in Kobe, inspired by Japanese rap and pop. He began sharing his work on various message boards and never looked back. As tofubeats, he found like-minded souls, including Internet label Maltine Records. His dizzying electronic songs garnered attention for zipping between styles, sometimes on the same track, like the entire web condensed into one tune. Kawai has since taken his Internet-cultivated sound to the Japanese mainstream, where his restless approach helps him connect with the digital generation.
