Hayehudim, which translates from Hebrew as "the Jews", rose up from the streets in the early ‘90s. No radio station wanted to play its very heavy rock sound, masterminded by the outfit's married duo, guitarist Tom Petrover and singer Orit Shachaf. The band toured Israel in search of fans—and they came. But it took six more years to reach national success, in the form of two gold albums and opening gigs for Metallica and Rage Against the Machine in Israel. Hayehudim's commercial success became apparent in the '00s, making it one of Israel's favourite groups of all time.
