About The Run Up
Artist Biography
Anthemic, fist-punching punk rock is the order of the day for Bristol, U.K.-based five-piece the Run Up, with their fervent live shows standing out in the D.I.Y. punk scene. That live energy is also captured on their recordings, like 2017's eponymous debut full-length.
Formed in 2014 and made up of vocalist Larry Bernard, guitarists Laurence Nelson and Charlie Parsons, bassist Daniel Baker, and Harry Holder on drums, the group looked to bands like the Gaslight Anthem, the Menzingers, and Latterman as inspirations for their heart-on-sleeve, anthemic punk. Issuing their a demo EP the same year, the group started to make a name for themselves in the fertile underground U.K. punk scene. Their sophomore EP, Scared of Everything -- released on Paper + Plastick -- appeared in 2015. Tour dates with Iron Chic, Red City Radio, and Off with Their Heads followed, with the group issuing their eponymous debut album in 2017 on Real Ghost Records in the U.K. and Get Party in the U.S. The 2018 EP Good Friends, Bad Luck was issued by Uncle M in Europe. More live dates followed including slots with Spanish Love Songs and Pkew Pkew Pkew, as well as a full European tour with Junior Battles. After parting ways with Holder, 2019 saw the group return to the studio to record their sophomore album. In Motion was released in October 2019 and the group set out on a U.S. and European tour with new drummer Stu Lloyd. ~ Rich Wilson
