About Roots of Creation
Artist Biography
A dynamic reggae-rock combo with a socially and spiritually conscious message, Roots of Creation were formed in New Hampshire in 1999. Led by founding singer/guitarist Brett Wilson, the band rose through the New England festival and jam band circuit, pairing sprightly horn lines with elements of dub, electronica, and energetic guitar music. By 2004, Roots of Creation had built up a heavy touring schedule to support their debut release, The End of the Beginning.
Best known for their spirited live show, Wilson and his bandmates have found success with both live releases like Live, Vol. 1 and 2 and studio albums like 2016's Livin' Free, which debuted at number one on Billboard's Reggae chart. In a nod to one of their biggest influences, the band gave an album's worth of Grateful Dead songs the dub treatment, working with former Bob Marley engineer Errol Brown on 2018's Grateful Dub: A Reggae Infused Tribute to the Grateful Dead. ~ Timothy Monger
