About Margo Seibert
Artist Biography
Broadway actor and singer/songwriter Margo Seibert honed her stage presence in D.C. and New York City, starring in 2010s productions such as Rocky and In Transit. With a pure voice that both soothes and soars, she ventured from stage to studio for her solo debut, 2018's 77th Street, a set of originals and covers that echoes the styles of Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, and Annie Lennox.
Born and raised in Howard County, Maryland, Seibert was influenced by her parents and their appreciation for music, namely her mother's love of Genesis, the Police, Tears for Fears, and Miami Sound Machine and her father's penchant for Eagles and the Doobie Brothers. After attending American University, she took jobs around Washington D.C. before moving to New York City in 2010. There, she was featured on- and off-Broadway, performing in Tamar of the River, The Phantom Tollbooth, Ever After, and Rocky, which marked her official debut in 2014. A couple years later, in 2016, she joined the cast of In Transit, billed as Broadway's first fully a cappella musical. In addition to these live roles, she also scored parts on television shows such as Elementary and Boardwalk Empire.
In 2018, Seibert issued her debut solo album, 77th Street (Yellow Sound Label). The collection, named after her first address in the city, captured her various folk/rock influences, combining originals such as "Make Up Your Mind" and "Vera Byrd" with covers of classic theater and pop songs, including Tears for Fears' "Head Over Heels," Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock," and Nirvana's "All Apologies." ~ Neil Z.
