Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Watching Top Of The Pops in the early seventies on English TV. I was fascinated by all of the different acts. There was glam rock from Bowie & Roxy Music. Heavy Rock from Deep Purple. Easy listening from The Carpenters and sweet soul from Al Green.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Jeff Beck, Blow By Blow (Remastered) Peter Oundjian, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Gustav Holst: The Planets Stevie Wonder, Songs in the Key of Life Stevie Wonder is an amazing musical communicator. This album is a masterpiece in songwriting and vocal ability. Jeff Beck was an early influence to me. One of the most expressive guitarists ever. The Planets Suite is a compositional masterpiece.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Bad Girl (feat. Roo Savill)” I wrote this with long time music collaborator Dave James as a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. The song was written very quickly back in 2011 but still sounds fresh today.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing guitar on Top Of The Pops with Tom Jones in 1988. It was great to be on the show that I'd watched as a kid.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'd love to tick off the list to score the music to a film. Maybe a Woody Allen comedy.
