Jacques de Villiers, a.k.a Joshua Na Die Reën (often abbreviated to JNDR), is a South African stadium-rock artist best known for Afrikaans-language anthems that evoke strong emotions about love and life. Born and raised on a farm in Walkerville, Pretoria, JNDR became enamoured with rock music from a young age. He studied music at the Tshwane University of Technology and joined a few bands, where he played guitar and piano. Armed with thought-provoking lyrics and emphatic, arena-ready anthems, Joshua released his self-titled debut in 2013 to great acclaim and prestigious accolades—quickly making him a household name. His second album, Die Wêreld Binne My (2016), reached a wider audience beyond his core thanks to its deeply personal subject matter. On 2019’s Someraarde, the multi-instrumentalist incorporated pop music elements to create a contemporary, genre-merging sound.
