In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
I didn't get into music until Sr. High but you wouldn't know that from our home videos. I was obsessed with dinos as a kid, and there's a video of me at 3 in a t-rex costume singing Mesozoic Mind on a guitar built from a kleenex box and rubber bands. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Bon Iver, Bon Iver, Bon Iver
John Mark McMillan, Borderland
Underoath, Define the Great Line
I'm normally terrible with favourites. But if I had to think of albums I couldn't live without, I think these three would be it. They've left indelible artistic and emotional marks on me, across years and decades. Theirs is the artistry I aspire to. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“T H R O U G H”
The final chorus of T H R O U G H contains the most important lyrics I think I've ever written. They are my contribution to theology, the most important to my personal understanding of Jesus, and I think contain the most hope for any listener. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Both of the Kickstarters I did to fund first Lion|Lamb, and then ALL YE LEPERS. With the EP, our funding went thousands past my original goal, and with the album the $30k goal was reached in just over a week. The most affirming moments of my music Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
So many things. I would love to do write and do shows with some of my heroes--John Mark McMillan comes to top of mind. Would love to headline a tour, and to play in Europe.
