Vocalist Robin McKelle has straddled the line between classic R&B and traditional pop, but her love of swing and big-band jazz has been even more pronounced. Living in Los Angeles after graduating from the Berklee College of Music, she toured as a backup singer, then returned to Berklee to teach voice classes. Taking third place in the 2004 Thelonious Monk Vocal Jazz Competition in Washington, D.C., she established her career as a leader. The list of artists she has worked with since includes the Boston Pops Orchestra, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Terence Blanchard, and Michael McDonald. Her recordings include Never Let Me Go, Introducing Robin McKelle, and Modern Antique. ~ Michael G. Nastos
