About Headgirl
Artist Biography
A project conceived by British rock bands Motörhead and Girlschool, both of whom shared the same manager and record company, Bronze. The collaboration arose when Motörhead had to cancel a tour after their drummer, Phil Taylor, broke his neck. They were at a Girlschool recording session when producer Vic Maile suggested that they work together. The result was an EP, St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, spearheaded by ‘Please Don’t Touch’, a cover version of a Johnny Kidd And The Pirates song from 1960. This was recorded in December 1980 at the Jackson studio, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, and its success led to Headgirl (an amalgamation of the names of the two bands) appearing no less than three times on the UK television music programme Top Of The Pops.
