Reinterpreting centuries-old songs, Luar na Lubre bring the musical traditions of Galicia, a Celtic region in northwestern Spain, to the international stage. Formed in 1986, Luar na Lubre drew the favorable attention of British musician Mike Oldfield, whom they met in 1992. In addition to covering their song "O Son do Ar," Oldfield invited vocalist Rosa Cedrón to appear at his Tubular Bells III concert in London, and the band also joined him on a world tour. This exposure enabled Luar na Lubre to earn their first gold disc with 1997's Plenilunio. Vocalist Sara Vidal replaced Rosa Cedrón in 2005. Luar na Lubre celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2011, a year that also saw the departure of Vidal and the arrival of vocalist Paula Rey. ~ Craig Harris
