About Dool
Artist Biography
Dutch band Dool mixes atmospheric, neo-psychedelic rock with dark goth pop, borrowing from Sonic Youth and the Sisters of Mercy. The band was founded in Rotterdam by singer Ryanne Van Dorst (previously in Elle Bandita), guitarists Reinier Vermeulen (the New Media) and Nick Polak (Gold), bassist Job Van De Zande, and drummer Micha Haring (both ex-the Devil's Blood). In 2016 they attracted attention with the intense, spooky atmosphere of the song "Oweynagat." Their debut album, Here Now, There Then, was released in February 2017 and included former Devil's Blood/current Molassess vocalist Farida Lemouchi as a guest. In 2019 guitarist Vermeulen left the band. Their second album Summerland was released in spring 2020 and peaked at number nine on the German charts. Dool's replacement for Vermeulen was Omar Iskandr. They followed with Visions of Summerland (Live at Arminius Church Rotterdam) in 2023, and their third studio effort, Shape of Fluidity, in April 2024.
