Artist Biography
Ana Frango Elétrico is a non-binary singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from Rio de Janeiro. Their music melds Brazilian styles such as bossa, MPB, samba, and 21st century Tropicalia with soul, pop, funk, post-punk, and even jazz in songs rife with beats, pillowy arrangements, and infectious hooks asserted in an alto croon. 2018's Mormaço Queima was co-produced with Thiago Nassif and won a Brazilian Critics Association Award for Musical Revelation of the Year. 2019's Little Electric Chicken Heart blended chamber and art-pop, indie rock, and funky, 21st century MPB and was greeted with critical acclaim upon release; it garnered a Latin Grammy nomination in 2020 for Best Portuguese Language Rock or Alternative Album. In 2023, the musician released their third album, Me Chama de Gato Que Eu Sou Sua, as a collaboration between three record labels, Mr. Bongo in England, Think! in Japan, and their own Risco label.
