Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My first memories with music have to be being surrounded by a variety of sounds as a little one. I grew up with a deep appreciation for Hip-Hop, Soul, R&B, Disco and House. G-Funk has a special place in my heart, it reminds me of home.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Frank Ocean, channel ORANGE Janelle Monáe, The ArchAndroid Robert Glasper Experiment, Black Radio I chose these albums because I believe that these artists are extremely creative, versatile, understanding, passionate and brilliant. Janelle and Frank mean a lot to me as queer artists making songs about that specific kind of love.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Crying Lotus” What makes this beat special is that I was asked if it could be used in a short film called El Marijuano about queer Chicano men. I feel very lucky to have this opportunity because of how aligned the movie is with my identity.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My song Crying Lotus becoming part of a movie soundtrack has definitely been the highlight. Also putting my music on streaming services and being able to see the places around the world people are listening means a lot to me.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would just love for more people to listen to my music but more importantly I would love to make collaborations happen. Anything from sampling my beats to rapping or singing over them. I really want to work with other artists and curate playlists.
