DJ, producer and label owner Ceri steps into the booth for the seventh instalment of Adelphi Music Factory’s The Beat Factory series. And, when it came to the brief, she gave herself quite a tall order. “For this mix, I tried to capture what I would play in a six-hour-plus set, in one hour!” she tells Apple Music. She opens that journey with Larry Heard’s “Can You Feel It” featuring Chuck Roberts, aka the “Voice of House Music”. “He sadly passed away earlier this year so not only is it a tribute to him, but also to remind people of the true roots and meaning of house music,” says Ceri. “As Chuck says, ‘Once you enter my house it then becomes our house and our house music! You may be Black, you may be white, you may be Jew or gentile, it don’t make a difference in our house.’” Elsewhere, expect tracks from legendary figures including techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson and disco vocalist Loleatta Holloway, as well as artists like Enrico Mantini, Bonobo and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and, of course, Ceri herself. “It also features my latest release, which is a true story about heartbreak, and I included some other tracks about heartbreak too,” she says. “I hope you like the mix!”
