Listen to Nostalgia by Marc Hervieux

Nostalgia
Album · French Pop · 2020
Marc Hervieux was a late bloomer who didn’t take music seriously until his twenties, when he was discovered for his powerful voice. Now an operatic tenor who has sung with the Opéra de Montréal, l'Orchestre métropolitain and New York's Metropolitan Opera, Hervieux takes a fun look back with Nostalgia. Inspired by love songs he heard on the family stereo as a child, Hervieux takes on a multilingual array of pop, jazz and vocal classics. He brings unguarded emotion to Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love", singing with breathy earnestness at first and then full-throated vigour, accompanied by strings and female backing vocals. He revels in the romance of Charles Aznavour's "Mourir d’aimer", infusing the song with swagger and passion. He embraces the drama of Kenny Rogers' “Lady” and shows how well-suited his voice is to Spanish torch songs on “Besame Mucho” and “El Día Que Me Quieras”. Nostalgia doesn't just exemplify Hervieux’s reverence for the past—it's also a profession of his enduring love for what he does best.
