Renaming themselves Ritmo Peligroso after releasing three albums under the name Dangerous Rhythm, Piro Pendas’s combo formed—together with bands like Anchorage, Manchuria, Chac Mool and Kerigma—the spearhead of the Mexican underground of the late ’70s and early ’80s. Considered the first punk rock band in the Aztec country, the band from the DF burst onto the scene with a provocative and biting attitude and the harsh lyrics of En la Mira. It’s an album on which they began their true evolution towards maturity, and began a search that would lead to the incorporation of Afro-Antillean elements into their forceful sound.
