LEGADO 7 may have gleefully earned the "stoner norteño" tag with their early corridos, but their music has never been what anyone would describe as mellow. Pura Lumbre once again hits near-frenzied tempos seemingly at odds with the band's well-stated love of the sweet leaf. The breathless accordion-and-drums attack of highlights like "Caja De Malboro" and "En El Humaderon" captures the adrenaline-charged atmosphere of their live shows, while their lyrical sketches of border struggles remain surprisingly deep for a band with such a deservedly party-hard reputation.
