Larry Heard's debut album as Mr. Fingers is legendary, thanks to three songs in particular: the stark, alien-sounding "Washing Machine", the giddy "Mystery of Love" and especially "Can You Feel It"—the original deep house track and the genre's enduring pinnacle. But this landmark album doesn't end there: "Amnesia" is a jazzier, more nimble take on deep house, "Stars" fuses R&B with cosmic synths, and the tough, unnerving "Beyond the Clouds" and "Slam Dance" paved the way for a wealth of experimental techno.
